Hey, I'm Marcio Torres,
I'm 30 years old and I'm from São Paulo, Brazil.
I started to skate by the age of 18 years old (2013) when I finished high school and started college. Before that I used to practice breakdance when I was 15 years old until the age of 16 years old and that’s when I started to learn Handstands which I love to do on my skateboard.
When I started to skate, I didn’t know much about modalities I just wanted to push around. A few months later I went to a well-known place called Ibirapuera Park where there are a lot of skaters and, on the day, I met an old friend from breakdance and he showed me a trick that changed the way I saw skateboard by the time, he landed in front of me a rolling Handstand Flip which shocked me because I’ve never seen something like that before and that sparked my beginning on Freestyle skateboarding.
After some months of practicing, I decided to get into my first contest also in 2013, I got the next to last position but I had a lot of fun and notice how much I liked to compete.
By 2015 I became the Brazilian Beginner Champion due the good placements in the contests that year.
In 2017 I won the contest The World Round Up in Canada in amateur division and got the title of the best Handstand Trick of the contest in 2016 and 2018.
By 2019 I became Professional but I got a knee injury which got me out of skateboarding for 1 year and a half. Such a hard time without skateboarding.
After the injury recover, I came back skating and soon on the contests again, in 2022 and 2024 I became Brazilian Professional Champion.
Despite all my Freestyle resume I like to skate on mini ramps and street skating. In fact, I love to land new tricks and from 2023 to 2024 I made a mission on my YouTube Channel to land 1.000 different tricks and I made it, I got so happy to see how many possibilities we can have on skateboarding and that’s what attracted me the most on skateboard, the possibilities.
I’m really grateful for all the skateboard has brought to my life, especially Freestyle, all the connections, experiences, good people, good moments and all the good things it could possibly bring to my life and that’s why I want to keep skating until my legs can’t stand out anymore.
After all these years on skateboarding I still cannot describe exactly what the skateboard is to me but I surely can say I’m not complete without it.
